Matunuck Oyster Bar

Rhode Island is the smallest state in the United States but let me tell you, that doesn’t stop it from having some of the best seafood! I have to say in my opinion Matunuck Oyster Bar is one of the best seafood restaurants in Rhode Island.

While, the atmosphere is lively and always busy, you can be sure that you will get the freshest seafood dishes at Matunuck Oyster Bar with their farm to table and pond to plate approach. Whether you are out on a date, family dinner or a girls afternoon lunch, you will not be disappointed!

You will want to call ahead or check their website to see if they are accepting reservations as the wait time can be extremely long. Try visiting in off season and on off times to avoid long waits.

The Food

The food is simple, not over thought and just what you want from a seafood restaurant, FRESH!

OH MY…the oysters are AMAZING! Of course you have to get the sampler of raw oysters but the oyster trio is another must have! I love every thing about it. The bourbon oysters are my FAVORITE! I am still trying to master them at home!

I always say that I’m going to try something new but everything I go I just can’t say no to the stuffed lobster. It’s packed with jumbo shrimp and large sea scallops. The stuffing is not abundant making it just the right combination for stuffed lobster. There is nothing worse than ordering stuffed lobster only to find it full of stuffing and very little lobster or seafood.

The Oyster Farm Tours

Also, they offer tours of the oyster farm. I haven’t personally done one yet, but it’s on my list of “must do’s”. The tour starts at Matunuck Oyster Bar and it visits Potter Pond shellfish farm. Lasting, 60 minutes the tour allows you to see where and how the oysters grow. Included in your tour ticket you also receive a bottle of Veuve Clicquot and a variety of oysters at Matunuck Oyster Bar.
