St. Patrick’s Day Dinner Menu

St. Patrick’s Day Dinner Menu

Every year I host St. Patrick’s Day dinner. I know that all the green beer, parades and festivities that go along with St. Patrick’s Day are fun, but we have always celebrated with a wonderful dinner full of traditional foods. If you are planning a nice dinner this is a great St. Patrick’s Day dinner menu.

St. Patrick’s Day Dinner Menu Starters

Shrimp with Shells and Herbed Butter

Shrimp with Shells and Herbed Butter ~ The recipe call for Dublin Bay Prawns which here in Connecticut are pretty hard to find so I use the biggest shrimp I can find at my local seafood market.

Fresh Oysters from local seafood market

Irish Cheese Plate with Pears and Apples

Irish Cheese Plate with Pears and Apples ~ Whole Foods and Stop and Shop usually have a great selection of Irish Cheese around St. Patrick’s Day. It’s a perfect addition to your St. Patrick’s Day dinner menu. I always get a few different cheddars and some blue cheese.

Dinner

Corned Beef ~ For a good St. Patrick’s Day menu, Pot roast or ham is actually more traditional than corned beef on St. Patrick’s day. Corned beef is an Irish-American tradition and it’s just so GOOD! There are many different suggestions on what cut’s to get. I always get the flat cut and look for one that isn’t full of fat. Pick the one that is the hardest. The softer the meat, the more fat. Also there are millions of different ways to cook corned beef. I boil mine alone for HOURS and HOURS on low until it’s pretty much falling apart. If you cook it to hot and fast you will just get a tough piece of corned beef and that is really not good.

Corned Beef

Leeks In Cream Sauce~ This might not sound very good but I promise you it’s delicious. You have to try add it to your St. Patrick’s Day dinner menu.

Colcannon ~ Mashed potato and cabbage.

Buttered Carrots  ~ my family loved them mashed, so that’s how we have them!

Soda Bread

Dessert

Irish Cream Cheesecake

Irish Cream Cheesecake ~ I always make these using gluten free chocolate chip cookies for the base instead of wafers.

I would love to see what’s on your table for St. Patrick’s Day! Be sure to share with us! #roadandtable
