Barn Island~Stonington, CT

Barn Island

Today we had a great day walking around Barn Island. Barn Island is located in Stonington, Connecticut. It was the perfect way to enjoy Mother’s Day. The paths are nice, wide and pretty flat. Our boys enjoyed walking the 4.5 mile loop. We walked past tidal marshes, through hardwood forests, open fields and we even walked past an old cemetery.

While walking through the field we watched a hawk “hunting”.

We passed plenty of deer paths and deer tracks. The boys enjoyed looking for tracks as we walked.

Barn Island is a great place to enjoy! If you are into bird watching it’s a great place to go. There are a few different trails and loops that you can walk. Click here to get a printable map of the area. There are large signs with the map posted at the beginning of the wildlife management area if you don’t want to print one out.

After our walk we stopped at a local seafood store and we picked up some tasty treats to enjoy at home.

Sometimes the simple days are the best days. Get out and be with your family. Enjoy each other and enjoy the beauty around you. I would love to hear about your favorite place to go walk, hike or just enjoy the beauty around you. Leave me a comment below!!
